Sorry to post again! Last night I turned car off. Tried to turn back on, but it said smart key not recognised and to reposition it.

central locking has disabled and window stuck open.
Held the key against the key reader thing under dash right hand footwell. Still no joy.

Im at my wits end now, as obviously I’ve just posted about the windscreen washers not working even after pump replacement.

please can someone advise / help.

one thing is for certain is I don’t have thousands of pounds to pay for repairs on it, I bought it relatively cheap and it’s a Cat S. I do not want to take it to JLR.

Appreciate any advice!

typical bcm issue after battery disconnect without following the procedure.

keys not recognised is an easy fix for someone with SDD (jlr software), unless bcm is totally fked. still repairable though. you dont need main dealeship. they would want to swap rather than fix anyway (hence the 000's of £). there are ppl ofrering bcm repairs on jaguar facebook groups (people well regarded) as well ebay. those guys are mobile in most cases (if not all), search for 'bcm repairs'

Wot he ☝ said.

Yeah BCM hissy fit after battery disconnect. Car needs a scan with SDD. Maybe the BCM can be reflashed with SDD. Or as matey says above BCM may need more involved work on it.

Odd for it to suddenly fail without another battery disconnect, have you checked the voltage of the battery?
( if it's under 10.5 V you may as well get a new battery ordered, as it will be seriously damaged )
It may well have high quiescent current draw which will quickly discharge/kill the battery due to the CJB eeprom corruption causing systems not to shut down properly.

It clearly needs the fix I mentioned in your other thread this one (link)
( BTW there have so far been no reports of anyone managing to fix the washer pump issue with SDD )

Can you still turn the lights on from the button on the keyfob?
( if so the KVM is still paired with the key )

Yes can still turn lights on from the fob

RAC said that the battery’s were in good health 🫤

The error is now - keyless start backup smart key error (don’t know whether it’s important or not but this error comes up when I’m touching the key to the key module and pressing start)

update : Small battery is 12.5V turned off
Main battery is 11.5V turned off - funny bexause RAC bloke said that this was a healthy battery?

Update - had a autolock smith out (came and did it outside my house) - he said the bcm was fully corrupted. Showed me the VIN on computer which looked like hieroglyphics…. Said it need full bcm repair. Which he did within 2 hours. Car is now back working as normal… in addition the wind screen washer pump is now working too!!!!

I was extremely happy with the price considering what a jag specialist was throwing at me….

I can’t recommend this guy enough he is from the north east .. this is his website below

JH Auto Development BCM repair

RAC are going to replace my battery tomorrow because the auto car guy told me my battery will be wrecked. He was the one who told me 11.5v is terrible considering it was only turned off for 24 ish hours… RAC are unbelievable……

Yeah good health of batteries can very quickly disappear, 11.5V is far to low it's somewhere between 10% ( if there's no load ) and maybe 25% charge ( if the interior lights are on. You need to get that on charge ASAP if you're going to save it. If the car is on your drive ( so you can run power to it ), then I suggest you charge it in while still connected to the car with something like a ctek-mxs 5.0 ( i.e something that is compatible with AGM batteries, doesn't have a lot of AC ripple, and isn't very high current so won't affect the cars systems. ) If it's on street parked, then I guess you need to bring the battery indoors to charge.

The error is now - keyless start backup smart key error (don’t know whether it’s important or not but this error comes up when I’m touching the key to the key module and pressing start)
Well you generally have to press start twice in that scenario ( once to get the message, and then again with the key held in place ) though with messed up BCM don't get your hopes up :(

It’s be charged back ton12.5v. I’m hoping that it will last till the morning ???? … I haven’t used it, as in started/drive as i darent until batteru replaced I’ve kept away from it.

yes I did have to press the button twice to get that message it was a different message the first press , which was unable to find smart key.

am guessing it won’t corrupt bcm aslong as I just keep it like it is until morning and they replace battery ?

Yeah, but RAC won't have a clue how to sort that. That would be my worry. They would lead you down a merry path.

Anyway, ignore me being Mr Negative. It'll be fine, and it'll get sorted!!! My default setting is doom and gloom as my wife keeps telling me :ROFLMAO:
