Engine Stop/Start Button Not Pulsating

I reported some time ago that my engine start button had stopped pulsating. It would appear that no one else on the forum had experienced this issue, but I nevertheless assumed it would be just a minor affair and it was only after several weeks that I dropped by my dealers. They were actually quite concerned and have never heard of this fault before

So rather than a quick ten minute job while I drank their coffee (which is better than mine at home and always a good excuse to pay them a visit), I will now be without my XF next week while they conduct a thorough examination.
I will report the results in due course, just in case this issue should occur to others :)

The plot thickens a little.....

I received a call from the dealers to report that my XF requires a new starter module. I was unable to ascertain whether they understood the precise cause of the fault but assume that by changing the entire module it will naturally resolve the issue. As my XF still starts with the present module, I guess only part of it is faulty. They have returned the car and await the parts, which are 'on back order' :(

If anyone knows any more about starter modules, I am all ears :)

My heartbeat has been restored, not as a result of a visit to the dealer (the starter module is still on back order) but because it has just decided to begin working again

My suspicions have always been that the issue is occurring due a faulty connection, although these days 'technicians' prefer to replace than repair, so we may never know :)

Unfortunately, I have now noticed another electrical glitch, which I will detail in another post :|

Could it be that your 'enthusiastic' testing of the winter tyres this morning gave the XF a bit of 'cardiac resuscitation'?! :)

The same thought had occurred to me Glyn :) , but as the pulse began to beat again only after sitting in an hour's hold up in the centre of Birmingham this afternoon, I can only assume it started due to the relief of getting out of the traffic ;)

The button not pulsing is linked to the courtesy light. Touch your finger on the courtesy light until it flashes so it comes on when you open the door. Your start/stop button will then start beating again the next time you unlock the car.
