I mean the "Air Tank" for the rear suspension fouls the spacesaver trye ( I have already removed the glue, cigar battery operated tyre
inflation cheap plastic thing and trye repair stuff in the boot )

 

I am intrigued by this issue. Is it a Jaguar space saver you have ? I ask because I have a space saver sitting on the top of what I always thought is the B&W audio equipment.

the photo below is how the spacesaver fits in when ordered at birth

my air tank is not in the middle like the one above, it is located more towards the bumper, and so the spacesaver
fouls the air tank

the more I look at it, the more I think the air tank needs re-positioning in the same spot at the photo and finding the
spare part which protects the air tank ( it has an arrow pointing towards the cockpit )

 

and the took kit polystyrene holder will be a help too

I would have imagined that they were all orange in colour

 

you can get them in red/orange and black, some people prefer the black

it certainly looks better on MY13 Black Sportbrake !

 

if you have the standard Sportbrake sound system like I do ( not Meridian ) , you can go mad and
buy the support block (Polystyrene ) part no C2Z25007 for only £85 inc vat - sigh !

 

I have the black one in mine, probably chosen by the dealer to match my black Hydra wheels!

 

Sportbrake space saver wheels are RED and black wheels are for saloons will not fit in the Sportbrake designated space.I had the same problem 2 years ago when I kept the Spacesaver wheel from my XF Saloon and it would not fit in my Sportbrake.There was a thread on the Forum regarding the different widths of the Spacesaver wheels on XFs.

 

Are you sure about those colours? My Sportbrake has spare wheel from new and i think it's black. Can check.

 

and the photo of the spacesaver I posted earlier on in the tread was black in a Sportbrake, so I think we
have to take hydrajaws comment with a pinch of salt

the rolling radius of the spaceaver should be the same ('ish) as the other tyres you have on the car,
but it is not written in stone, as even Jaguar state that the 18" spacesaver wheel is OE for Genuine
Jaguar (OE) for 17, 18 and 19 alloys on the XF

the static rolling radius on my 17" 235/55/R17 is 317mm
the static rolling radius on the 18" spacesaver is 313mm

NB I think I know why 20" wheels come with the 19" spacesaver as standard in the boot, it is because the diameter for the
18" spacesaver is 674mm, but the 19" spacesaver is a little bit less at 672mm (135/70/R19)

 

I have a Sportbrake which I ordered with the space saver wheel, which incidentally is black. When I ordered the car, the dealer told me it was wise to order the wheel when ordering the car because it requires the compressor / air tank, etc to be moved in order for the wheel to fit. Jaguar will do this at the factory at no cost so you only pay for the spare wheel. I recall them telling me that the work to move all this kit after the car has been delivered was of the order of £500. Not sure if this is a DIY job but if you can't fit the wheel in, I think you need to talk to your dealer. BTW, I have the Meridian 380w system which means that the subwoofer also needs moving.

it took me about 40 mins to move the air tank more into the middle of the wheel well, just need to stretch the airline a bit in that direction, there is just enough slack

so if I can do it, anyone can !

NB I did use temporarily a lot of bubble wrap around the wheel to protect the air tank, but I now have some black spongey rubber cut to suit the wheel and it looks more OEM

A question if I may, sort of related to this thread.

I thought I would familiarise myself with the spare wheel and tools so that I would be prepared if I ever had a flat. I removed the spare (which is red by the way) to take a look underneath. There is a lot of kit in there, most of which I can account for, air tank, compressor, dual batteries and so on but I am confused as to what the black sealed tank like unit is that sits under the wheel, shown in the picture at the 12 o'clock position with a yellow sticker on it and a wired connector going into it. First thought was rear washer reservoir but most rear washers these days work off the common tank under the bonnet. Anybody got any suggestions?

 

Do you have a Meridian audio system in the car? If so, the black box is the subwoofer that forms part of this system. The standard Jaguar system does not have a sub.

 

Ah, that make sense. Yes I do have the Meridian system. Maybe if I had some tunes on at the time I would have realised ;-)

so does anyone have any pictures/ advice for a retro fit space saver. Just trying to sort mine.. It will fit if I dont use the tray . Considering using a sheet of ply instead and making a wheel prop for the well.
