Hi all!

This long time lurker has done a fantastic deal on a brand new unregistered 14 MY XF R-Sport in Polaris White - with added Front & Rear Parking Aid Pack (with camera), Winter Comfort Pack with heated front seats.

I'm so excited - taking delivery next Saturday, a very good deal (having visited a few dealers) to see the best deal they could do on such a car on a PCP... complete with the current deal of three years free servicing, very low interest rate - and WOW!

My journey set out for an old shape 3.0 diesel XF, but in white, with S body kit, and LED running 'blade' lights in the front bumper... tough to find... then it turned into a Sport model.... then, what the heck, let's do an R-Sport in white!

I'm looking to add the chrome side vents, and folding rear seats (dealer says its just ÂŁ250 for the folding seats) so all sounds good!

Congratulations on Your new car. Please don't let the dealer rip you off for putting folding rear seats. It is only a matter of putting chord and few pieces and should be done free . I got it done for free when I bought mine.

Is that official, that dealers can install folding seats? I once found instructions on how to do it on the 'net, but I thought it was something of a hack. I also seem to remember, that the back rest didn't have some cover or upholstery, which was only there on cars delivered from the factory with folding seats.

HMG1K congratulations on the purchase. I'm picking up my new love of my life on Saturday as well. Which dealership in London will you be at as mine is Lookers Park Royal?
One thing I did not check on the new car assuming they were standard, were the rear folding seats! Does this mean my Portfolio does not have them? I would be very dissapointed if this were the case because my current car made good use of them. Greg

Don't worry - the Portfolio has folding seats as standard :)

Hey Grego, I tried Lookers but they were so bad, kept me waiting an hour as we're busy on Saturday, then 5pm rolled around and they sat with me for five minutes to tell me they had no available stock, brand new, for me on an R-Sport!!!

Lancaster Amersham did me a stunning deal, then an even better one. They now have a car with the same parking pack, heated seats and windscreen, now the car comes with split folding rear seats (bonus!) and mats. It also has mud flaps, but I told them to take them off! Looking to a Friday or Saturday pick up.

Congrats HMG1K and not long to wait either! Not sure why you want the mudflaps off as I find them pretty neat and they do save some washing!
enjoy and hope to hear your report back when you take delivery.

I'm sure you'll be very pleased with your purchase. I love my Sportbrake Sport which I bought almost a year ago. Did you buy the 2.2 or 3.0 version of the R-Sport? I may well have gone for the 3.0 had it been available at the time.

Went for the 2.2 200 R-Sport - I was ready to splash ÂŁ25k on an 18 month old Sport example, then on a year old ÂŁ32k R-Sport, and then went all out on a brand new one! Handover this Saturday at 10am! I can't wait, from 20 years of fine M1tsub1sh1 Galant cars, last being a 2.5ltr, I finally have 'grown up' and got a decent car and treated myself!

Thank you all for the warm welcomes!

And here is my stunning new XF R-Sport!!!!!

I've got to say I did miss handing back my old Mitsubishis over the years - not on my last Galant yesterday, this XF officially gives more SMILES per MILE!!!!!!!!!!

I spec'd it with the chrome side vents, comes with the Winter Comfort Pack, Alloy Space Saver, Carpet Mats, Split Rear Seats and the Front & Rear Parking Aids.

I'm thinking of adding chrome wing mirror covers - but that may be too much as the 2014MY have zero chrome around the windows, but they do look nice looking at the car front-on. Also I'm thinking of swapping the black mesh grill insert for chrome - again makes it more visually striking from the front. I do want to add an R-Sport badge (like on the side vents, new to 2014MY) to the back of the car, on the empty space opposite the XF designation on the boot. All very subtle modifications.

What do you think? Expensive mods?

Also, can the Mirror Pack be added and fitted to the car now as an after-market by Jaguar? I take it the price of ÂŁ430 in the options book includes fitting? I like the idea of auto-folding mirrors now.

Got to say, this is TRULY the best car I have ever owned, driven (I know it's only been 24 hours!) and the attention from friends and family to its looks, interior, and drive can only be compared to that of a car costing million times more than a ÂŁ37k XF R-Sport!

IMO of course, Chrome side vents look good, so would mirror covers, extra badge on rear to balance up will look right, chrome grille would then be a better match, but ...... Pretty certain that whole front would have to come off, not sure I would want that on a new car plus the cost (ÂŁ150?). So much better looking with light alloys rather than black ones. Red callipers as well would really finish it off. Pics please when all done.
Mud flaps are discreet and really do stop a lot of road dirt.

Great looking car HMG1K. I bet you have been in it all day today. Got mine yesterday but really only drove it yesterday as I've been decorating today. Occasional admire out of the window today just to make sure she was still there.
I'm looking forward to going to work tomorrow (I know its sad) but its the 25 mile commute will be spurring me on! Greg

Looks fantastic HMG1K. Don't think I'd go for chrome mirrors when the window surrounds are all black. In fact I also like the black grille.
as you say it looks a million dollars and I'm sure you'll get lots of people come up to you admiring it.
now time to get out and enjoy it! Well done.

Exactly a week into XF ownership - i must say this is such a lovely car! And this R-Sport is a real head turner... mostly from other male drivers... or those passing by as I'm stuck in traffic!!!!

I've decided against chrome wing mirror covers - the 2014MY have black window surrounds so chrome wing mirrors so close to the black would look tacky, but great if the windows had chrome surround.

Also, I've added an R-Sport badging (NOTE: R-Sport and not the higher 'R' badge, I don't want my car to pretend it is something it is not!!!) to the rear boot lid, opposite side to the XF designation - see photos below. The badge is the same as the standard R-Sport on the side vents...

Then there are some other general photos I took today of the car!:)

Nice one HMG1K. Good looking motor.
I'm into my first week today and spent the afternoon removing the Sahara dust and a quick wax. Back to showroom standard!

Looks fantastic HMG1K and a very smart badge addition, even got it on level, that must have been a challenge! Glad you are enjoying your new car, they are so great to drive and look at!

Thank you, starkgr! It involved a lot of measuring of distances and comparing to the positioning of the XF badge, masking tape to get the correct side and base levels, a spirit level - and looking at the positioning of the standard R and S badging on other XFs! :)
