Fuel Tank won't fill fully

For some odd reason on my last two stops to fill up the fuel nozzle on the pump has clicked off when the tank is only 3/4 full. It just wouldn't let me put any more in.

I thought that maybe the "wrong fuel protection device" was activated but when I look into the fill pipe all I see is two tabs about 3 inches in, one on each side. These do appear to stop the fuel nozzle going in to the pipe all the way but I thought the protection device was much more obvious and anyway it would stop you pumping all together. I tries the reset tool anyway but it doesn't have any effect on those two tabs.

Anyone go any ideas?

I have experienced, that some nozzles cut off frequently when filling the XF, while others work as they should. It depends on the brand of fuel. I suspect they use different brands of nozzles, that have different sensitivity. I simply use certain brands of fuel and avoid others. I think the XF is a bit difficult in that regard. Perhaps the tube down to the fuel tank is not straight enough, so some nozzles cut of prematurely. Apparently it's an old Jaguar problem. I read about it in car magazines as a child.

The pump handle shuts off in response to a sudden pressure rise in the filler neck. There is an air tube inside the nozzle which conveys the air pressure to the shut off switch in the handle. If insufficient air can bypass the nozzle as the tank is filled the pressure in the filler neck rises prematurely.
