Anyone experienced problems with rear door alignment on their xf? Jag back from dealer today after 3rd attempt and re-spray to address this problem - black plastic on inside of rear left door rubbing against paintwork causing it ti wear down to metal. dealer says they have seen 3 other 2009 cars with same issue (on their forecourt) and that there is nothing more they can do as the door alignment options are limited. these are mass produced items to a tolerance was their excuse - nothing more we can do for you was the outcome - 3 weeks in total in bodyshop over a couple of months and I'm left with a £40k car that you cant close the door on without rubbing the paintwork! No option but to use door everyday as kids carseat in daily use! I feel a jag customer care e-mail coming on. Reported the issue when car was still in warranty, so feel justified in seeking resolution. dealer quick to point out the last 2 attempt to correct were at their costs as outwith warranty period (only cause they didnt fix the 1st time). suggest you check this on your cars - you will be able to see or feel where the paint has rubbed off (door handle height on bodywork inside of rear door).......

Mines a late 2008 car but I don't have this problem, it should be possible to rectify I would have thought, not heard of it before on here or anywhere else and they're all out of the same "mould". Odd that it's only the left side afflicted, makes one wonder if it's had some accident damage repairs in the past. Them saying they've had 3 other cars with the same problem sounds like bull***t to me.

Yes I have this on my XF.Jaguar recommended that my left rear door be re-aligned.The door alignment looks fine from the outside.I declined any further work of this kind due to damage caused during my dealers unsuccessful attempt to re-align my bootlid.I just couldn't trust them to get it right.I now have clear tape on the affected area.It is all but invisible.I know this sounds a poor solution to an issue that shouldn't exist on a car of this calibre.But,at least the tape is taking the damage instead of the paint.
Might I suggest one solution to the problem. There are various producers of clear films, such as armour fend. These are very thin clear plastic films that are used to protect vehicles from stone chips etc. I believe there is a thread about these products on the forum entitled clear bra or something to that effect. The product is akin to a screen protector on a mobile phone. Its possible to obtain a length of this product and then cut it to shape. Its barely noticeable and thin enough to still allow the door to shut, but would protect the paintwork. Hope this is of help.
