The class action lawsuit includes both InControl Touch Pro and InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment systems that control multiple important features, including the radio, smartphone integration, heating and air conditioning, rearview camera display and navigation.

The InControl lawsuit says the infotainment systems are marketed as the most advanced with the most control and most features.

Michigan plaintiff Blake George purchased a 2019 Land Rover Range Rover equipped with an InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system which has allegedly suffered regular problems since his purchase.

The plaintiff says the InControl system has went through numerous updates, then it was serviced in November 2020. But the Land Rover InControl lawsuit alleges the system experiences problems just about every time the vehicle is started.

The plaintiff says Jaguar Land Rover didn't tell him about the infotainment system problems and doesn't inform other consumers of the alleged defects.'

According to the InControl class action, normal use causes the user interface to fail and the system is slow to respond and suffers crash loops.

The Land Rover lawsuit also alleges InControl defects cause safety dangers due to distractions caused by unexpected audio and video errors. In addition, consumers are at risk when trying to use the backup cameras, hands-free calling or the heating systems to remove ice or fog.'

- the car(s)(/Evoque PHEV), as I said, was thrown out the door, just before Speth left, to prove it not a disaster/vapouraware, and massively criminally fraudulent - claimed <40 g/km CO2, real at least double - and because they are so heavy, and driven 90% of the time by the puny 1.5-litre 3-pot, through the front axle only, the drive shafts have enormous strain - trying to get going say a loaded, ~2.8 tonnes car on a hill, with a cold engine, cold, thick oil in engine, gearbox and diff, ambient temp. freezing or under, with real around 100 lb.ft of torque - something has to give - if not snap outright, bearings start to slip, graunch, etc, hence the terrible noises this guy experienced.

Totally unfit for purpose, borderline dangerous car, that should never have been released, ever seen the light of day, but JLR's 'engineers' and the git Speth signed it all off, at every stage, and the criminal vermin at the DfT rubber stamped it - of course.

Worst car ever? Quite possibly. But then a child could have told you it would be, would have to be - 3-pot driving a 3 tonne gross weight vehicle, etc.

Moderately loaded DSport PHEV - 2 adult occupants, half a tank of fuel - ~2,500 kg/6,000 lbs.

On an incline, 10%, force of gravity around 10% of directly downwards.

That's a force of ~2,500 N, pulling the car back, when the parking brake is released.

Given a typical DSport wheel&tyre diameter of ~.75 metres, that means the car needs to at least counteract this backward gravity force with a torque of ~3,333 Nm, at the driven front wheel driveshafts.

The 3-cylinder, 1.5-litre petrol engine in the DSport PHEV produces, claimed/certtified by the DfT, ~300 Nm maximum.

In reality/truth, it's around 230-240 Nm max. Let's be generous and say 250 Nm, max.

At just above idle, say ~1,250 rpm, when most normal cars start sccelearting/moving off gently, torque would be ~170 Nm, certainly no more than 200 Nm. Let's be generous and say 200 Nm.

That 200 Nm of twist force by the engine, is then sent through the automatic gearbox, and differential/final drive, to the front drive shafts, multiplying its torque by up to ~20, for first gear.

On a cold/very cold morning, starting a car from cold left overnight, that potential ~4,000 Nm of twist at the driveshatfs, can be reduced by 10, 20% at least, by cold, viscous oil(s), in the gearbox, and diff/final drive.

So let's say, the driveshafts receive ~3,200 Nm. That's barely enough to hold the car from falling backwards.

Okay, we can up the revs, produce more torque, but ~2.500 rpm and above is not exactly seemly for a 'premium', £55k car to pull away, in a not overly taxing situation.

Add more weight, a steeper incline, colder weather, tyres grabbing for traction on an icy surface, and you have potentially a car going backwwards, or at least a LOT of strain on those driveshafts, as they grip, release, grip, release etc.

I'll bet that JLR has not uprated the driveshafts, and bearings etc, for the PHEV model(s) - Evoque too.

They should be basically HGV spec - hauling a car with a gross, real weight of ~ 3 tonnes, and at speed, say motorway/autobahn speeds, a CdA that puts tremendous resistance on the car moving forward.

JLR knew all this - 5 minutes on back of a *** packet calculations. They knew the car would break down, not work, as shown by above, almost once outside the factory gates.

They knew the car at least needed a 4-cylinder engine, with at least, real 350 Nm torque, given how much the DSport, and Evoque, weighed already, and their awful CdAs, before adding ~300kg in battery, motor and power electronics to them.

They did the 1.5-litre, 3-pot thing, because they had to show to idiots that the tiny <40 g/km CO2 made sense - tiny engine --> tiny emissions --->convinced tiny minds.

The real world is the opposite - the best PHEV, for a large/heavy SUV vehicle - is one with a large, largely unstressed engine - with torque to spare - the extinct Audi Q7 V6 TDI PHEV, and the current X5 45e, with its lovely I6 petrol engine.

The fools who buy the DSport/Evoque PHEV have to think that JLR has somehow squared the circle, performed alchemy, if not witchcraft, making an econobox engine work with a gross weight 3 tonnnes, ~2x CdA of an econobox car vehicle - impossible.

They are idiots, plain and simple.

^Corrections/errors:

1. torque multiplication from engine output shaft to road wheel in a normal road car is ~10, not 20 as above, without a transfer box with a low range - like the larger Land Rovers, or a crawler gear - like Jeep

2. .75 metres is the DSport's typical wheel&tyre diametre, not radius

3. torque at the driveshaft is divided by the wheel&tyre radius, not multiplied by it, to give the required force.

So, 250 Nm of torque produced by the engine at ~1,250 rpm, becomes ~2,500 Nm at the driveshafts - before transmission losses - which becomes a force of ~2,500 divided by 0.375 metres at the tyre circumference - ~6,667 N.

Take away those drivertrain losses, very cold weather, more weight to the car, steeper incline, high speed on a long motorway incline say, etc, and the margin for power/torque over load diminishes significantly or completely - which is why the front driveshafts start making noises, and then fail.

JLR is obviously breaking the law - forcing workers who are told to self-isolate to ignore it, or use their own app - not in the law - and leaning on local Public Health jobsworths to fall into line, or else... - Tata on the phone to Pritti Vacant Patel/Sunak/Alok Sharma/Spaffer to once again threaten to send it all to Poland, Mexico... .

They take us for mugs. JLR has f all cars to build - no chip/Brexit shortages - but they'll be damned if they're going to pay people to sit at home, when they can use refusal to work as grounds to sack, and hence reduce the workforce in large numbers without redundancy costs, and not pay N.I. for furloughing people.

And that's why the e-tron is the huge - but unreported by the media - success it is, 'the quiet phenomenon' - it works in the real world - from 14:30:

Word of mouth in Norway has spread its abilities - all-season car, spacious, super quiet, tows large loads - something that they've grown to trust, if not love a little.

It's unpretentious, not showy, but works, gets on with the job, durable - appeals to Norwegian/Nordic traits.

It's slowly catching on here in UK too - taken much longer, not helped by the none too subtle 'Don't Buy German Post-Brexit' transparent campaign/brainwashing on Haymarket/JLR-front Pistonheads, and the like, but here too, in UK, word of mouth is slowly spreading its 'Does the Job-ness', in a quiet way. It's the antithesis of the I-Pace - English to German/Nordic character - BSing/PRing versus dourness but delivery.

~6,000 or more genuine e-tron sales in Norway steady-state a year is phenomenal business for Audi/VAG. Trouble is, the ID cars are engineered to a price, unlike the original e-tron, and follow-on customers will be disappointed with their Audi Q4 e-trons and the like. Tricky for VAG.

The media realise they have to cover for JLR, and almost everyone else reporting major production, near total now, stoppages for chip shortages:

- so the above, opening, categorical statement by Car Dealer Magazine/The Times was factually incorrect, deliberately misleading/deceiving, a lie.

JLR's supposed production disruption is NOT caused by either the affecting-everyone-else global chip shortage, or affecting-real-UK-carmakers Brexit disruption.

Everyone and the dog in the street knows that 'Castle Bromwich production disrupted', is like saying someone heard a rustle of wind in a graveyard.

FFS, even JLR admits that CB is basically shut, has been for most of the last 2-3 years.

We know its official production schedule until around Easter 2021 at least is tiny - literally handfuls of cars, and it has, still, around 2.500 direct workers, making just dozens, at most a couple of hundred cars a week - so how in the F can it be stretched by a few 'Thing' absences?

It can't. It's the media covering for JLR, now that even the thickest have twigged that all REAL carmakers are stricken NOT by The Thing, but the massive global shortage of chips, and in UK, to an extent, a comparative distant second, disruption by Brexit trade flows.
