What the 'New XF' should have been, if the world-beating crap of the last few years about 'Electric Jaguar', the Gamechanger, eXJ, etc, had been true:

would have genuine world-beating aero, hence efficiency and range
would have looked a lot like this:
- the launching end of next year Merc EQE.
If JLR won't or can't do PHEVs - no 'Jaguar' PHEVs, just in the Range Rover clone F-Pace, and no sign still of the 3-cylinder PHEV joke in the Evoque/DSport, wouldn't it have made sense to leapfrog this and go to BEVs for Jaguar's saloons, which I though the point of 'Electric Jaguar' was, the 'European Tesla', back in 2017/18, when the Gamechanger was a thing, and Jaguar/JLR was supposed to be sweeping all before it, wrong-footing the lumbering Germans, with this bold EV move?
What happened? Was it a lie, all of it? Of course it was. It was done - 'Electric Jaguar' - back in late 2017 to early 2019, just to get JLR sold, to some Chinese, Arab, ... idiot, who thought he was getting the European Tesla.
Instead, once 'Get JLR Sold!' failed, about 18 months ago, JLR 'Engineering' pushed forward with bolting a couple of AAs to the pig iron Ingenium, and hey presto, 'Electric Jaguar/JLR' - every range, model with an 'electrified powertrain' - an ~1 kWh battery and some off the shelf kit from Bosch, ZF or whoever.
There's no pretence now of 'Electric Jaguar', as there's no point.
The obvious thing to do with no BEV Jaguar saloons, and no PHEV fallback, to prop up business BiK sales, was to kill them.
So far, 2020 has not been kind with the automotive industry, caught in between its globalization aspirations and the unexpected health crisis. Jaguar is among the brands that didn't escape unscathed, but it’s now aiming for a leaner business operation in the U.S. with help from a revamped model...
This is JLR having to acknowledge reality, unable to PR, lie, press release their way out of trouble, have UK.gov, the NHS, UK 'royals', Plod etc bail them out, by the fact that there must be thousands, quite possibly tens of thousands of unsold XEs built up in the US, over those last several years of 'record and record-er sales', month after month, year after year, like clockwork, which finally had to be recognised and accounted for - JLR US dealers: 'no mas, or you can shove your JLR franchise up your royally-approved, luxury-plus, gamechanging, iconic behind'.
The US JLR dealer council would have given JLR that simple ultimatum, to which JLR had to respond - stop sending its 'volume model', the XE, that doesn't sell to the US - or fire its US dealers, and maybe have the lackey media finally take notice of the meltdown and massive sales fraud of JLR - BMW just got fined for a tiny fraction of this - and its 'record sales' in the US - hard to ignore, cover up.
Of course it's no different with the XF, ...or E-Pace, or F-Pace, or F-type, ...or Gamechanger, but the XE was literally shipped over by the up to 7,000 cars mega car transporter boatload, since 2016, when Dieselgate, the appalling Ingenium, and the general awful crapness of the XE killed real sales in UK/Europe stone dead, and so JLR diverted massive numbers to the US, not cutting production drastically instead - bad PR, give the game away to the 'stunning-success' believing plebs - with US dealers finally saying 'Enough!', cut this sh!t out'.
That's the real news of Jaguar/JLR today - the exposure of flinging cars at the US market for the last 4-5 years, where JLR can self-report record sales till the cows come home, without worrying about fines or jail time for execs, due to 'The Special Relationship' - UK is US's poodle, involved in every war crime of the US like a faithful lapdog - hence JLR gets to skate on its criminal doings, whilst Germany and its conscience, plus Nordstream II etc, gets crucified.
But US JLR dealers still need to make a buck, even with all these JLR 'record sales', so they've called out the nonsense and massive fraud of the last 4-5 years.
Just the tip of the iceberg. How soon before JLR announces - unreported by JLR Weekly and the media generally of course - that The Gamechanger is being "retired" form the US, plus further Jaguar and Land Rover models?

This is a real challenge and threat to VW group and BMW, with pipsqueaks like JLR bound to get stomped.
But, Tata is busily pushing up the supposed value of JLR, exponentially, through the transparent proxy of Tata Motors - already said by Tata itself to be worthless domestically - Tata Sons tried to dump it into VW's/Skoda's lap not long ago, remember - while the real world spend tens of billions and readies armadas of new product, like above.

The EQS alone, with its 700km range, and S-Class appointments, is the end of any putative eXJ, which of course JLR knows, hence its binning in late 2018, then resurrected to say JLR is not dead, and try to sell JLR again, earlier this year, and provide cover for ex-PM Mayhem's half a billion pound going away present from UK taxpayers to Bombay billionaires - f'ing hag should hang for treason.
