My tailgate is difficult to open and often starts top open then gets stuck and relocks. The black plastic cover fell off so I have been using it without this cover and there are scratches on the mechanism showing that it is not aligned correctly. Is there an adjustment to square up the mechanism on the tailgate lid by removing the facias and if so how do I go about removing them. Thanks for your help.

I don't know if there is a way to adjust the mechanism but wondered if you get the same problem if you move the tailgate up and down by hand? It might be that you have one of the motorised struts failing which is causing it to move out of alignment?

Thanks Ricardo. Struts appear to be ok. What I have found is that one of the bolts securing the tailgate was fractionally loose and having tightened both bolts fully, it is working much better.
