i have taken over an xf, and i am struggling to reset home on the sat nav.

it does it, but after the engine goes off- its home becomes lex in stockport

Pleased to read that you have your XF g14str, even if it doesn't want to go home with you
I can't read the manual at present but I do recall that previous destinations can be deleted. I can only suggest at the moment, until someone who can remember the exact proceedure can post, that you go to the previous destinations screen and search for the delete button. If you can find it and remove all trace of the previous entries you will be able to start over.
