I've just gone out and bought myself a second-hand XF and it's splendid. Just one question from a beginner to all you experts: is there a way of unbuckling the centre seat belt so that when you put the rear seats down, it doesn't get in the way of the load? It looks for all the world like the belt is designed to retract into the parcel shelf, but there's no button on the D-loop. Any ideas? Is it obvious and I'm too much of an old fogey?

Welcome to the forum bluenun :)
Judging from the spec of your XF it needs only a kitchen sink
I have never looked at the mechanics of the centre seat belt, never had a reason to use it, but maybe the people that have struggled with rear child seats will have some knowledge and tell you what they discovered.

It can be released, cannot remember which side now but you will note a small hole in the body of the mechanism not much bigger that a needle. Push in a small screwdriver and it will release
