New member taking delivery of Premium Luxury 2.7D, Midnight Black next week!

Any reviews on the headrest screens?

What do the connection points look like?

I have three daughters but only two headsets? Spare headphones?

Many thanks in advance?

Hi Madrid68. Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately I have no experience of the headrest screens but if the headphones plug into a 3.5mm stereo socket then you can get a Y-splitter and just buy another pair of headphones. However, they may be wireless so check first.

It may also be worth contacting your dealer to see if he has some recommendations.

Thanks Roma!
I believe they are wireless. Dealer did not have a clue but at £750 I need to understand the options. The thought of two headphones and three girls under 10 fills me with dread and my wife and I would like to enjoy the B&W sounds undistrubed!

hi,

two screen but totally wireless (to the naked eye) i'm told, only snag is the DVD / PS box is in the boot so on holiday journeys with a boot full of luggage you may not get to change them easily. Where are you getting yours from at £750 as my dealer in coventry quoted me £1575 as an after market dealer fit

Hi Madrid,

I too have a need to get rear screens, luckly number of kids equals the the of screens!

What I have found is the jaguar system provides AV sockets for the user to connect to their choice of source. The AV connection plate is placed under the rear centre air vents.

I have gathered this info from the Rear Entertainment System Installation Guide downloaded fron the Jaguar assessories web site. I appears that Jaguar don't provide a DVD or any other source nor do they route cables to the boot, as standard, I presume you place your own DVD(s), games console(s), etc under the front seats.

I've spoken to a few other car dealers about this topic and they have all recommended an after Market solution from your local car audio specialist how can source a solution that matches your requirements more closely. They say the install time is 3-4 days and the quality of the fit will be as good as Jaguar, time will tell for me

The Jaguar system is £882.00 inc VAT plus 2 Hrs fitting time. No mention of DVD or cabling to boot.

There isnt any cabling to the boot or anything. It doesnt even connect to the built in TV tuner if you have it fitted

If it used the TV tuner it would make the TV option a justifiable option to me, but it doesn't.
Maybe some cleaver audio specialists would know how to do it.

I'd dearly like to hear feedback from people who have experience of getting after market rear entertainment systems added.

Two dealers told me that rear screens were not an option when I ordered the XF, great my grandson would have loved them.

Available from Feb 08 in either charcoal or champane.
As this work is carried out by the dealer, not the factory, it can still be fitted.

Gary can you find out if there is any way that the TV tuner can be linked to the rear screens so that passengers can watch TV whist the car is on the move but the driver etc listen to music?

I have found that http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk do a great range of headrest screens, have been quoted by a alpine dealer approx £800 for two 7inch screens, wireless headphones x 2 (can buy / link more if needed) and alpine dvd player inc fitting with socket to connect playstation video camera etc, takes 1 day to fit if they can have the headrests day before, cheaper than Jag and much better quality from the look of it
