Part 1 of Surviving Canadian winters in an XF lol

A winter petrol offered here through Petro-Canada (94 octane) contains a multitude of additives that interactively clean the engine and protects it from deep freeze :geek: .

After being awakened by a 'check engine' light and getting it verified... I've been advised not to use this fuel since Jaguar engine management software is not calibrated to take into account the extra 'special' additives. The additives cause misfires in the engine and eventually trigger the engine malfunction light.

Stick to Exxon/Esso (91 octane)

Is this relevant to the U.K. environment ?

All in all the XF performed quite well in Canadian winters

Can not agree with you more, have had my XF through 2 winters now here in Quebec, heart of the snow belt, and other than having to take a run from my garage to get up the rather steep hill at my cottage in the Laurentians it has been a pleassure to drive :)

We don't see winter petrol here.

Diesel formulation does change to include anti waxing (automatically and not advertised), but not petrol.
