Evening all
We have just bought a 2014 sport brake with good miles and full history.
We have been in Landrovers for about 25 years .I always have our vehicles serviced at a good independent brand specialist.
That said I like to do an intermediary oil change , I have read that the oil needs to be extracted rather than drained via a sump plug but I have also read it can be drained via a drain plug funny enough on the service paper work from the Jaguar specialist it has sump plugs charged for.
So those who know please tell me it can be drained via the sump so I can do my own oil changes between the services I will have done .
is there anything I need to be aware of guys apart from getting the oil filter in correct locating the lug at the bottom in the right area just like the Discovery 3 we had .
thanks in advance
Phil

Update for anyone thinking of doing there own servicing you can drop the oil through the sump .
Glad about that because I like as much old oil out as possible the last bit is where the particles live .
The oil filter unlike it’s 2.7 predecessor does not have a locating lug on the bottom of the filter so you don’t fit it into the housing it fits in the lid on the carrier cage so when you screw the lid back down it’s takes into the housing with it ,simples.
All the discs and pads are simple enough along with all other filters .
Happy days

i recently bought an electric oil pump from lidl, it made changing the oil on our astra much easier, no more rolling around underneath removing undertrays, just shove it down the dipstick tube, rich
