I was wondering if anyone has seen this issue before, recently when pressing the breaks reasonably hard while moving the seat belt light comes on and the warning sound is made as if no seatbelt is being used.
When breaking stops the light goes out and alarm stops
Strangely this dose not seem to happen if the breaks are lightly pressed when moving at the same speed
Anybody come across anything similar

Try just pulling the belt hard or wiggling the buckle to see if same thing happens. Could be when under tension (as will happens when you brake hard) the buckle is moving in the holster sufficiently to break the tel-tale circuit. If this is repeatable and the buckle is not loose in the holster, suspect the micro-switch is faulty.
If still only happens only when braking hard, assuming you don't have a passenger, try with the passenger belt clipped in place. If this cures the issue then would suspect something wrong with the sensor in the passenger seat that tells the system there is someone in the seat and hence will give a warning if the belt isn't buckled!
