This was the lead story on the business pages of the Sunday Times today
Sunday Times said:
Jaguar in secret plea for £1bn government loan
http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/b ... 213217.ece

The article goes on to say Jaguar sold 54,000 cars in the last year. We hear 40,000 XFs have been sold, which if all this is true, they only sold 14,000 XJs, X-types and XKs altogether, worldwide, over 12 months.

Might be an "iconic brand" but not many people around the world are buying it. Do we want to be owners of a popular brand, or an exclusive one?

Another good experience derived from driving an XF, in my opinion, is the one that comes from spotting all the BMW and Mercedes cars in a traffic jam on the other side of the road, certain almost, that another XF will not be in with them. I agree Craig; exclusivity is far more satisfying than popularity.
