From what i've been able to glean from various sites, the Jaguar XF is made up from existing bits directly taken from other cars or modified from other cars.

- The floorpan is taken from the Jaguar S-Type
- The suspension is from the Jaguar XK
- The diesel engine is the same one used in the Jaguar XJ/Citroen C5 and others

Is that correct and can people add to that list?

Thought the 2.7D engine was out of the S-Type?
The basic engine block is a Peugeot/Citroen unit initially conceived for the C6 and 607. Heavily reworked including new heads etc it is fitted to the S-type and now the XF. It is slightly differnet to the one in the XJ however in that in the XF and S it is not mounted on hydraulic engine mounts. This is done in the XJ to induce further refinement than in the S and XF installations (which in themselves have double sealed bulkheads to deaden sound) In the XJ the engine mounts vibrate in the oposite direction to the engine totally cancelling vibration.

The chassis on the XF is a derivative of the Ford DEW platform also used on the Lincoln LS and Ford Thunderbird

Found this site from Jaguar forum.

The 2.7D engine is the same as XJ, S-Type and now XF. They all use hydraulic engine mounts but the XJ ones have an electronic de-coupler for idle vibration (due to aluminum structure).

The dew98 chassis that was the origin of the 2000 model year S-Type was re-engineered by Jag for the 2002 model year S-Type and has been used on all cars since, S-Type, XJ, XK and now XF. It slightly evolves each time so that the XF actually has improvements over the XK and these read back onto the XK in its 2009 model year.

Floorplan is the same as S-Type (same structure).

In the modern automotive world everything evolves from previous products and there is a lot of component sharing. XF is no different in this respect. Sum of the parts is what matters not the parts on their own.

The XJ and XK are not on the DEW platform. They are on a Jaguar specific alluminium chassis where the DEW platform is steel

That's just the body that the chassis bolts to.

The chassis in terms of uprights, suspension arms, bushes, subrames etc is the same on S-Type, XJ, XK and XF. This is the bit that was completely re-engineered by Jag and is what the dew98 chassis refers to. If you look under a 2000 MY S-type and a 2002 MY S-Type the chassis is very different, since then they are all the same.
