I have just been told that my ordered XF is to be built on 10th October.

Does anyone know how long it actually takes to build each car and how many they produce in a day?

Also I was wondering if anyone knows how long it was from their car being built until they actually received it.

I don't know the build time; it is not a long process today with so much automation.
As for your dealer; that could be just a couple of days if you are not using a private number plate and they need your money.

I think that might be due to the DVLA.
If so then the dealer can take the application by hand and short circuit the process.

I went on the factory tour.
I think it takes about 36 hours to build a car.
I am not sure why it then takes 5-10 days to get it from the dealer

Because they all go to Sheerness for an inspection which takes a couple of days and is then delivered to the dealer who have to do their PDI and everything before they hand over.
