Hi All,

I've recently bought my 09 3.0d Portfolio S and the garage I bought it from said that the drive belt and water pump had been done Jan 2020.

However, the invoice they produced looked a bit dodgy, so I checked and I can't find a record of the business name who apparently did the work.

Is there any way I can easily check to see if the drive belt and water pump have been changed? Maybe by removing some covers?

I'm very sceptical of the sales guy because he's not been altogether honest with me on some other smaller details as I've since found out, and if I need to take him to task over this I will need to act quickly.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

hi, im not familiar with this engine but it looks as though if you can remove any top cover then remove cover 3 on the left front you should be able to inspect the belt, the garage painted in tippex the mileage when the belt was changed on our astra on the cover, my focus i faced the same thing and removing a cover enough to see the belt i could see that there was no cracking up of the belt either inside or outside. obviously being an interference engine if it goes it would be costly to repair, maybe it would be wise to get in writing from the salesman that the cambelt has been changed, good luck, rich

Thanks Rich, I do have the alleged invoice but it just looks very flaky/unofficial, hence my suspicions.
I will see about getting that cover off and taking a peek. Cheers

I've now booked this in with my local Jag specialist to take a look. Hopefully it's a positive outcome and I haven't been done over. 😬
