Hi all wanted to ask for peoples opinions on two issues i've had with the car since i bought it.. Both clips in one video.

Video Link-

1 - First 10 seconds shows the car seem like it has torque convertor slip. This is only in second gear and only in Drive (Not dynamic with paddles) but sometimes is a lot worse than shown in the video. Gearbox service time?

2 - Shows the car that makes this annoying noise around 1800rpm. Does this in all gears but more prominent on the motorway under high load... Sounds like there's something wrong somewhere.

Does anyone have any ideas on either issues
There's so many little issues with the car and i'm so close to getting rid of it.... Think i bought a bit of a dud.

Thanks in advance!

Re 1 - I have same / similar phenomenon - 2014 XFS with 50k. I had put it down to being the 'bite' point when the transmission locks into direct drive. However, could be a developing fault.
Sometimes when accelerating away from low / rolling speed (e.g. onto roundabout etc.) the tranny seems to lock quite suddenly giving a fair old jolt.

Re 2 - sorry noting similar in mine so can't advise.

I too had been thinking about a transmission service. Supposed to be sealed for life, but changing the oil and filter seems to be quite common as numerous 'how to' video's on YouTube (albeit mostly for BMW's, but is the same box as jaguar and others use).

Would be interested if you notice any change if you go down the oil change route (or if anyone else has experience of this).

Hi. So it seems you have a very similar fault to me regarding the lurching. I've been in talks with my local specialist today but they don't really know what it could be as they've not seen it before. Only possible thing would be to update transmission and reset adaptations but that could make it worse.

Regarding the second point we've narrowed it down to something either in the engine bay/torque convertor and not the transmission. I am considering a fluid change for transmission but this is £540 at my local for the genuine ZF service kit fitted. It's not a job you should do yourself apparently. But they also told me they personally recommend them around 150,000 miles or ten years. It's a big risk for me as i'm already deep in expenses after 16 months of ownership.
