I had the dealer check the fuel filler flap and he ended up lubricating it. Now when I push on it to open it there is a brief whirring, motorised sound and it opens fine. There wasn't much wrong with it before but I have never noticed it make this noise before.

I guess it's working properly now.

Does anyone elses flap make a whirring noise when they open it?

Can't say that I have heard the noise but I do know that mine was lubricated in a similar fashion and I have not had any difficulty since. :)

After my dealer carried out the recommended mod, which I think involves filing away a bit of plastic in the mechanism, my flap also tends to make more of a whirring noise. Can't remember it doing it after lubricating it with a silicon spray a couple of months ago.

mine only made the whirring noise when it was about to stop working and need replacing!
Oh dear
Will go out and play with it . . . . .

I think the noise is caused by the plastic ring under the filler cap rotating when the flap opens.
