Guys, I had a chat with a local detailing company re giving my brand new XFR IRR some protection. As I get the car washed by a local handwash company weekly I can't use specialist detergents and decided against the Jaguar Pureguard system.
They recommend the use of a material called EXO and I've searched the internet and it seems to get good reviews but thought I'd check here before deciding whether to proceed. It seems it was used last year exclusively by Force India according to some articles.
Thanks

oops, sorry Peter.
Don't worry starkgr, I missed the thread first time too, but I have read it now and see that it didn't get too far. Firstly the product was denigrated (with or without experience of it) by the parcel of rogues who now reside elsewhere and, secondly, it would appear that LennyV had perhaps enveloped himself in the coating and was unable to publish his report ;)

However, I would never dismiss something without "detailed" research (almost a pun). Certainly I have experience of Pureguard and found it lacking, but the claims of this product go much further. Time has moved on, your local detailing service does not laugh at it and perhaps now this product has made a name for itself...... one way or the other ;)

If you do pursue it further please take care to ensure you can report back on your findings :D

Raregrin, the retailers appear to be very good with many high quality materials. They even have waxes at £8k per small jar used on a Lamborghini. They laughed at pure guard saying it was useless and cost about £10!
im awaiting a quote for their "new car" detailing which appears to include a buff and the application of EXO. They are also giving me an additional quote for sealing the alloys. They reckon the treatments will last for 3 to 5 years after I told them how it'll be washed.
I'll let you know how it goes if I proceed provided I don't get sealed myself.

Ok, so I decided to proceed and it goes in for 3 days in a couple of weeks. I'll post some pictures when it's done.
the detailers will coat the body (after clay bar and buff etc) and the wheels and calipers with EXO, treat the trim and protect the leather seats The windows will also be coated. Hopefully th e end product will be good and save me having to wax and polish regularly to avoid sun fade on the red, if we ever see sun again here in Scotland

Yes Lenny V, I was just trying to find out if anyone had experience of using EXO, but your post was finished at the point before you were going to have it done. Did you have it done in the end and how long ago and is it lasting OK?

Hence the responses above :D

Yes sorry i did have it done it was fine no problems at all. My view is its was worth it only had to wash and then dry and it still kept its deep shine. Not sure where the cost of over a thousand pounds came from but at the time if memory serve me right was £450. Hope this helps and like i said i dont seem to be able to post photo of my new satellite grey xf.

Thanks for this Lenny, I think the cost came from another thread but I'm getting the car done as well as the wheels and calipers in EXO, the interior leather protected from colour transfer and the windows treated for around £700.
Maybe Pekem can help with the photos. I did have to resize in photoshop a few times as if I remember the max size is 800x800 pixel or 17.5kb. I upload mine by going to "go advanced" so hopefully we'll get to see your satellite grey beauty!

OK so I'm very happy with the work carried out on the car. The EXO coating feels just like glass and I'll find out how well it beads the water off in due course, but been dry and sunny here since I picked it up yesterday. Just to recap, body coated twice in EXO, wheels and calipers coated and sealed, glass coated, ivory leather cleaned and protected. Here are some photos.

Gets the full seal of approval from me ( pun intended ).Does it seem to work with metallic colours better? As I have a Polaris white and wondered? Regards Paul.
I believe it works best for darker colours and metallic but I've seen some photos of white cars and the shine is fantastic on them too. However, my main reason for getting the work done was to protect the paintwork and minimise time spent on waxing ;)

EXO coating? Must be a waste of money starkgr  ..... I thought. But I have to admit that the car looks great in these pictures (he admits with jealousy) ;):D
