Hi, so it's a xf 2014 luxury 2.2 auto been told its leaking from the egr cooler and jag have quoted £900 and something plus vat for the whole unit . Mechanic thinks it's coming from the gasket but jag saying we have to buy the full shebang .

which part is it leaking from ?
there are gaskets at each end of the cooler and if the car is still performing as it should apart from a coolant leak i would go with the mechanic and replace the gaskets

considering the cooler and the egr valve are 2 separate items but can be had complete for £400 if you had to go down that route i cant see your mechanic charging £500 labour to swap them out
