Mornin' sodgob,
I clean alloy wheels with Autoglym Clean Wheels then protect them with Autoglym Super Resin Polish. Over the years I tried several specialist wheel waxes, but was disappointed by their durability.
If they're very dirty then you could buy some "Wonder Wheels" from Halfords for the initial cleaning. It's a very strong acid-based cleaner. Rinse off very throughly, dry the wheels and then protect them with a wheel sealant (you can use Autglym Super Resin Polish as VG suggests). Then regular maintenace cleaning can be carried out with a mild cleaning product like P21S Wheel Cleaner fluid or gel or Bilberry Wheel Cleaner.
You can buy a litre of P21S which is rebranded by Porsch for about £11 from any Porsche dealership (parts department). Just buy a garden spray bottle from B&Q for a couple of quid ad the 1 litre P21S refill is just the bottle with no spray head.
Finally got a cleaner ... Concept super alloy wheel cleaner 5 Ltr. £17 from Partco.
put into an old spray container, diluted it 50% & still strong enough.
excellent finish.
