Hi, I had a warning of battery low please start engine after the car has been sat for a few weeks. I have a trickle charger but not sure if I can charge the battery in the boot or if there are points under the bonnet I should use. The stop start hasn't worked for months as I only do short trips so think I need to charge up the batteries. Any advice is most welcome. Thanks

Not using the car for several weeks can easily mean, that the battery is very low. Modern cars have a lot of electronic systems on standby like burglar alarms and things like that. The current XF from 2015 has terminals under the bonnet for charging the battery, but the original XF has to be charged in the boot. Use the plus terminal on the battery and the ground terminal on the bodywork next to the battery. On cars with an extra smaller battery for the stop/start system, I have only seen it recommended to charge the large main battery. Not the small one.
