Have you contacted the previous owner to see if he has had similar problems? If so, the dealer must have been aware of them...
IŽd get another vehicle.

Collected our 08 plated 2.7 XF just before Xmas, few minor electrical issues - dealer sorted no problem, then the alarm started to play up first replaced volumetric sensor, then inclination sensor. - now alarm goes off when locked, unlocked and when driving, that gets heads to turn !! Car now being looked after by dealer with a view to fitting new central junction fuse box. Anybody recognise any of these symptoms - or can shed a light on the causes?
Should I cut my losses and return the vehicle - it has spent 12 days in dealership and we have only had it a month!!

Welcome to the forum asc991,
Sorry to hear that your XF has not got off to a good start.
I hope you have been given an XF courtesy car while the dealer is investigating these electrical problems?
As for rejecting the car, that would depend on what timeframe you have to do this within. If the repair work is still underway then ask for an extension so that you can be satisfied that the problem is resolved.
Did the car come with a Jaguar approved 12 month warranty?

Hi Gemset, thanks for your speedy response - unfortunately we have not got an XF courtesy car - but a Volvo (gosh it is shocking) but we are still on the road.
Thanks for the tip on asking for an extension. we will certainly do that.
The car is covered by full Jaguar warranty - 12 months - lets hope we do not have to use it all. Jaguar field service engineer coming from factory on Wednesday to check it out!!!!!
Writing to previous owner today only got log book yesterday.
Thanks for you help, will keep you posted

The dealer should be able to find out from the car's error log which sensor set the alarm off, which should help.
Do you get a message from the system when it happens, or is it just a horn sounding? If it's only a horn then it may be the back-up alarm (I presume the XF has this feature) which is a separate unit with its own battery, designed to sound if someone forces the boot and disconnects the main battery. The X-Type was prone to problems with this, both through battery degrading and the wires to it chafing on a body panel - although it brought up a warning rather than sounding the horn.

For what it's worth, I had a similar problem with my MGRV8.The alarm went off at very odd periods, even in my garage at night which was totally unnerving and also when parked outside our local shops.
The answer was to reprogramme the complete alarm via the dealer's computer software.
A longish job, but worked. The interior volumetric sensor could be regulated for sensitivity, apparently.
Even birds flying nearby set the thing off, when the hood was down, naturally!
