Thread: Winter driving

    Post Winter driving

This is my first XF and living in Sweden where almost 5 months of winter climate driving rules I was quite curious about how the XF will handle on ice and snowy road conditions. I'm a quite experienced winter driver after 30 years professionaly on the road and I must say the XF behaves quite good.

My shoes on 18' rims are Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 with 130 studs on each tyre and it works very well. As long as I'm really gentle with my right foot the XF is stable as a rock even at high speed accelerations to 150 km/h.
Careless accelerations are immediately punished by severe tail skiddings and spin-offs and the movements sidewards are quite powerful due to the weight of the car and the hp from the V6 engine powerline.

My first conclusions after 7.500 km winter roads is that once you learn how to really be in control of the XF on ice/snow, the car is really very convenient and fun to drive.
Ooh, almost forgot to tell you how fun you can have paddle shifting the car into sorts of Jaguar skidding dancing" in spacious areas like in a big empty carpark area .
