 Re: Brake Dust
Not noticed any brake grabbing on previous xf 2.7 & current 3.0s.
I would go back to dealer & get it checked.

 Re: Brake Dust
Cheer up Trevco your XF will not rust away like Alfa's have a reputation for doing! Seriously try EBC GreenStop or Redstop pads and the brake dust problem will be no more and the grip is better than standard pads.EBC are available on E-Bay

 Re: Brake Dust
with regard to the comments about the B&W system lacking treble: I think it's important to remember that every car is aimed at a particular segment of the market. Jaguars have always been aimed at "gentlemen of a certain age" and as such there's no point supplying a hifi which faithfully reproduces high frequencies if the driver isn't going to be able to hear them due to his age. In terms of the type of music likely to be played - that's another case in point. Most Jaguar drivers are going to want to listen to "easy listening" types of music - so there's no point making a hifi that delivers punchy bass when 90% of the time it'll be playing James Last, Val Doonican or Magic FM. It's horses for courses. Yes, I'm kidding. It's Friday and I couldn't resist

I don't understand the issue with the B&W system, my Audi S5 had a Bang and Olufsen (not sure that's how you spell it?) my BMW 650 had some high end system and my Lexus RX300 had a Mark Levinson HiFi oh and we own an Alfa Dealership within our group so am very familiar with the system in the 159. In my opinion the B&W system is up there with the best. Suggest you check the subs, amps, speakers and settings. I never had the problem with grabbing brakes on my XF ?

I was replying to a suggestion that Trevgo made that there wasn't much treble.
[Although I must admit I thought it was quite boomy at first - but following on from various suggestions I am happy with it now. The Prologic / 3-channel setting makes a lot of difference.]

Yes, I'm kidding. It's Friday and I couldn't resist Aggghhhhhh!! I wish I hadn't read that!!!! As I posted elsewhere, Jag's staid image was one of my biggest problems with the car, and deep down I think it probably still troubles me. I spent the weekend fiddling with the audio, cranked it up on The XX, Klaxons, Hot Chip and Wild Beasts and there is absolutely no doubt at all that not only is it chronically lacking in top, but the definition is very muddy too no matter what setting it's on. The Alfa system was far, far brighter (as was the Golf GTi's). I find it hard to believe they would design a system purely suited to lift music, but if that is the case, maybe they should warn people of either tender age, or with "young" tastes, at the point of sale.

trevgo, I suggest that you take this matter up with Bowers & Wilkinsbecause they will understand your concerns, I don't because I just listen to Max Bygraves and Abba

I don't think there is any malfunction - gregwatson could be right in that it may not designed for spikey guitar music. Some of it is down to taste, and I've always liked a very toppy, bright sound that would be an anathema to lovers of classics. No matter how I set it, it's too flat for me. Bit like the seats! Despite my moans/groans, I do like the car.....honestly!

Re: Brake Dust and incredibly the B&W system (:-((
Trevgo - I listen to all sorts of rubbish from AC/DC, Scorpions, BEP, La Roux, Snow patrol, Muse, ZZ Top, U2 etc and the one thing that affects sound quality especially the top end is the source quality. MP3's on a pod, stick or MP3 player can indeed sound muddy (depending on compression used) its only when you stick a quality CD or a lossless MP3 on a stick in that the sounds start to shine through so I think I know what you are experiencing.
I think its possibly a case of 'garbage in garbage out' and the B&W just amplifying a less than pefect source hence the lack of high end frequencies, on a lesser system this wont be so noticeable. What types of source are you using to compare?
